Electrical Commissioning Engineer – Fire Suppression Systems Johnson Controls – Fire Suppression Location: UK-wide travel required Employment Type: Full-time, Permanent About the Role Johnson Controls is seeking an experienced Electrical Commissioning Engineer to join our Fire Suppression Contracts Group. You will play a key role in commissioning water-based suppression systems, ensuring installations meet the highest safety and performance standards. This position is ideal for someone who thrives in technical environments, enjoys problem-solving, and is committed to delivering exceptional customer service. Key Responsibilities Commission the electrical scope of water-based suppression systems, including deluge, sprinkler, fire detection, and gas suppression systems. Conduct installation inspections, functional testing, cause-and-effect checks, and system programming. Complete and deliver full commissioning documentation for each project. Provide system demonstrations and training to clients and end users. Liaise with internal teams, contractors, and clients to resolve commissioning issues and maintain project timelines. Ensure compliance with Health & Safety requirements, including RAMS, PPE, toolbox talks, and company EHS standards. Travel to sites across the UK, including periods working away from home. Drive productivity and support the achievement of contractual programme dates. What You Bring Experience in a customer-facing technical role, ideally within fire sprinklers, gas suppression, or fire detection systems. Recognised apprenticeship or equivalent technical qualification. Strong knowledge of BS5839, IEE regulations, and electrical commissioning standards. Understanding of ATEX and hazardous area requirements. Experience with conventional and addressable fire alarm systems and manufacturers such as Tyco, Kentec, and Advance. Ability to work on large networked systems and complete commissioning documentation. A full, clean driving licence (preferred). A proven track record of delivering high-quality work and resolving technical challenges.
