About the Role:
This position requires a unique professional who can seamlessly balance rigorous spreadsheet and database management with a warm, supportive pastoral presence. Starting immediately, you will take ownership of the school's day-to-day attendance strategies, working closely with parents to build bridges between home and school life.
Key Responsibilities:
* Manage the school's daily attendance records, inputting codes accurately and resolving unexplained gaps.
* Lead morning "first-day-of-absence" phone calls to establish why students are missing from school.
* Coordinate with Year Leaders to run targeted internal interventions for students approaching the persistent absence threshold.
* Prepare formal documentation and case notes for legal escalation or Education Welfare Service involvement when required.
* Support a positive attendance culture by organizing school-wide attendance competitions and reward assemblies.
Requirements:
* Prior experience in a school administration, attendance, or local authority education welfare role is highly desirable.
* Proficient software skills, particularly with school databases such as SIMS, Bromcom, or Arbor.
* Strong conflict-resolution skills and the confidence to hold difficult, honest conversations with parents and guardians.
* Thorough knowledge of safeguarding protocols and UK statutory regulations regarding school attendance.
* Excellent organizational habits with an ability to manage a busy workload independently.
