Paint Technician
Location: Redhill
Salary: Up to £45,000 basic (DOE)
Hours: Monday to Friday (overtime available depending on site)
Overview
ISQ Recruitment are currently supporting a busy and expanding accident repair organisation in the search for an experienced Prep Paint Technician. This is a fantastic opportunity for a motivated and detail-focused individual who takes pride in delivering high-quality preparation and paintwork within a fast-paced bodyshop environment.
You'll be responsible for preparing repaired panels, mixing paint accurately, applying topcoat to manufacturer standards, and ensuring vehicles leave the workshop to a consistently high finish.
What You'll Be Doing
Preparing repaired areas as instructed on the work order, ready for topcoat application
Applying topcoat to manufacturer specifications, ensuring a high-quality finish is achieved
Using paint mixing schemes and computerised scales to match colours accurately
Operating spray booths and drying lamps safely and effectively
Interpreting and following technical service instructions and approved repair methods
Observing, identifying and reporting any issues with vehicle structure or paintwork
Ensuring all work is completed in an efficient, safe and economical manner
Ensuring vehicles meet safety standards prior to return, or recording faults clearly on the job card
Indenting for replacement parts where required and recording usage accurately
Removing, storing and disposing of vehicle components, fluids and gases safely when required
Completing quality control checks and supporting final stage sign-off of repairs
Reporting faults or defects identified during the repair process
Ensuring repair methods are available within the job pack and followed correctly (manufacturer systems / e-scribe or approved sources) Required Skills & Experience
Previous experience as a Prep Paint Technician / Paint Sprayer / Prepper within a bodyshop or accident repair centre
Strong understanding of preparation techniques and paint processes within automotive repair
Confident using paint mixing systems, spray booths, drying equipment and related tools
High attention to detail with a "right first time" approach to quality
Able to work efficiently in a high-volume environment while maintaining excellent standards
Strong awareness of safety procedures and correct handling of materials and equipment
Reliable, organised and able to follow job packs and instructions accurately Benefits
