Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (OUH) is seeking an exceptional Consultant Midwife to provide expert leadership for intrapartum care, complex births and clinical quality improvement across maternity services. Working closely with the Director of Midwifery and the Midwifery Leadership Team, the postholder will provide senior clinical leadership for intrapartum safety and complex births, lead development and oversight of complex care pathways, drive clinical quality improvement and perinatal surveillance, support learning from incidents, reviews and complaints, embed improvement, and strengthen multidisciplinary working and intrapartum education, training and simulation. The role combines a minimum of 50% expert clinical practice with professional leadership, consultancy, education and research through the four pillars of advanced practice. The role is a senior clinical leadership role for an autonomous expert practitioner focusing on safety, complex decision‑making and reducing unwarranted variation, ensuring high‑quality, compassionate care for women, babies and families.

Core Qualifications
* A Registered Midwife
* Educated to Master’s level or equivalent
* An expert in intrapartum care and complexity
* An experienced senior clinical leader with credibility across multidisciplinary teams
* Commitment to improving safety, quality, equity and experience in maternity care
* Relevant teaching qualification
* Accredited management and leadership development and training
* Appropriate UK professional registration
Desirable Criteria
* PhD or Professional Doctorate
* Evidence of publications and research
* Expert practitioner in all areas of midwifery
* Evidence of teaching in clinical and university settings
* Experience of developing and implementing policy
* Ability to teach complex midwifery to students and colleague groups
* Experience of implementing strategy
* Operational management experience or clinical background in a provider environment
* Experience of working with academic institutions
* Broad but in-depth knowledge of health policy in relation to midwifery practice
* Understanding of the complexities of the current health and social care environment
* Negotiating skills and ability to resolve conflict
