Developer Engineering is a function of the CTO organisation. The Team
The Codified Controls team within Developer Engineering is revolutionizing how we manage policies, standards, and controls through a company-wide "everything-as-code" initiative. This greenfield program offers a unique opportunity to significantly reduce process friction, errors, and manual effort. We build and deliver automated controls, developing both the core technology and supporting infrastructure – we also heavily involved with artificial intelligence and play a major part in its effectiveness at Citi. As a product-focused team, we prioritize user needs and iterative development through close collaboration. We seek UX Designers with proven experience in creating outstanding user-centred experiences and a demonstrated ability to empathise with users.
The Role
We're seeking a Senior UI/UX Designer to join a new product team. You'll work closely with the Senior Service Designer to collaborate on journey maps and service blueprints putting the user at the heart of the solution, leading our design efforts and promoting cultural change across the organization. Your primary focus will be to turn service blueprints into beautiful, delightful and intuitive clickable prototypes using the components from core design system as well as creating your own. This role demands a strong understanding of UI design principles, delivering incremental value to users through MVPs, and fostering a positive and collaborative culture.
As the Senior UI/UX Designer, you’ll need to demonstrate a deep understanding of how you approach design problems, working through iterations to reach a couple of final solutions and are able to articulate the design needs, any trade-offs and break them down into prioritized requirements for a non-designer to work on. You’ll need to manage the overall look and feel for this product team and elevate design standards and frameworks into the engineering team’s workflows whilst adhering to the design guidelines, standards and principles set out by the core UX team.
Key Responsibilities
1. Utilise Figma and other design tools to craft intuitive wireframes, prototypes, and mock-ups that champion user-centred design principles
2. Use data to help inform designs and make decisions
3. Confidently articulate and present design concepts to stakeholders at all levels.
4. Demistify complex problems through intuitive design
5. Collaborate with stakeholders through design thinking workshops and documentation to translate complex business requirements into elegant, user-friendly solutions
6. Help facilitate user research, usability testing, and gather feedback to ensure our designs meet the needs of our users
7. Stay updated with the latest trends and best practices in UX design and financial services. Introduce innovative solutions that drive business growth and satisfaction
8. Work closely with users to understand their requirements and deliver an intuitive and frictionless user experience
9. Advocate for the user in all aspects of your role, always thinking about their experience and how a change could impact their workflows and performance
10. Dissect, analyse and clarify user feedback into clear actionable insights
11. Write user-focused tickets with clarity and intent
12. Communicate your designs and ideas clearly and hand them over to engineers within minimal friction
13. Architect and design solutions with a holistic mindset that encapsulates the end-to-end workflows of users

Experience
24. Proven experience as a UI/UX Designer demonstrating your ability to drive business outcomes through innovative design solutions with development teams and stakeholders
25. Strong understanding of Figma to create clickable prototypes, creating and using components, variables and other powerful Figma features
26. Experience running workshops, presenting designs and reporting outcomes
27. Strong understanding and experience working with web-based presentational languages like CSS and semantic HTML (JavaScript is a bonus)
28. Demonstrated expertise in stakeholder management and capable of conveying complex design concepts to diverse audiences, from engineers to senior leadership
29. Experienced in navigating and networking across an enterprise utilizing internal and external resources
