Citizens Advice Derbyshire Districts is looking for new Trustees, a Treasurer and Trainee Trustees to join our Board and help shape the future of our vital service. To ensure our board is reflective and representative of our local communities and workforce, we strongly encourage applications from under-represented communities. Currently we are particularly seeking to increase the involvement of people under the age of 35, people with a disability, people of colour and/or LGBT people on our Board. By joining our Board, you’ll be part of a supportive team that shares a strong sense of purpose and values. Role details - Trustee Collective responsibility for overall management, governance and strategic direction of the charity in accordance with governing document, legal and regulatory guidelines We are particularly interested in people with experience in human resources, finance, technology and/or equity, diversity and inclusion Role details - Treasurer Explain, guide and advise the board on the key assumptions, financial risks and implications of the charity’s budgets, operational and strategic plans Chair our Finance Subcommittee (four meetings per year) Support the Senior Leadership Team with financial matters Role details - Trainee Trustee To build a board that truly reflects the diversity of the communities we serve, we’re introducing a Trainee Trustee Programme. This offers aspiring trustees the chance to “learn on the job” in a supportive environment. It’s designed for individuals who may not yet have board experience but are keen to get involved in governance, contribute their knowledge and perspectives, and gain new skills and experience. Voluntary position – one-year fixed term Hands-on experience – attend at least 8 board meetings throughout the year Tailored development – receive a personalised training and development plan One-to-one support – be matched with a dedicated trustee mentor Your skills, abilities and personal qualities Commitment to our strategic aims and values, with an appreciation of the challenges our clients face Willingness to support, discuss and challenge constructively Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a governance setting Integrity, authenticity and the ability to act impartially and fairly at all times Empathetic, passionate and ambitious Proficient IT skills Commitment All roles are voluntary, although reasonable expenses will be paid. Trustees are expected to contribute to the equivalent of between 10-14 days per year. This includes: Trustee Board meetings of which there are typically four a year, together with one strategic leadership day. These meetings are held in person in Matlock, between 4pm and 6pm, though online attendance may be possible. An active role in at least one subcommittee, which also typically meet four times a year. These are Finance, Human Resources and Service Delivery Additional ad hoc meetings and organisational events as required
