Culinary Assistant
Student Activities Board, Main Campus (Grantham). Full‑time position (40 hrs/week) open 08/27/2025 – 06/30/2026.
Position Summary
Take ownership of the preparation of all food items on the interactive gluten‑free station and the pizza station. Assist with all kitchen production needs as assigned by lead cooks or chefs.
Primary Duties
* Follow proper food handling procedures and keep work area neat, clean, and sanitized
* Prepare all gluten‑free food items for the interactive station during all meal periods
* Prepare all pizzas for lunch and dinner
* Plan and organize prep lists for the pizza and interactive stations daily
* Assist and support all kitchen production needs for all meals as needed
* Read and follow recipes from CBord program
* Use and care for all equipment; report failures to management; clean equipment immediately after use
* Rotate and utilize all food products efficiently to maintain optimum quality (first‑in, first‑out)
* Communicate with student workers on products served and with cooks and chefs on production
* Wrap, label, date, and store all food items correctly
* Maintain accurate documentation using Quality Control and HACCP tools
* Prepare food for catering events as needed
* Complete weekly deep‑cleaning tasks each week
* Maintain consistent and reliable attendance
Secondary Duties
* Attend department meetings and training sessions as scheduled
* Give direction to students, ensuring they follow outlined procedures
* Other duties as assigned
Special Working Conditions
Must be able to lift 50 lbs. Must be mentally and physically able to walk, stand, push, pull, and lift. This position is essential; employees providing essential services must report to work as scheduled during emergency closures or delays.
Qualifications
* Education Required: High School Diploma or equivalent
* Education Preferred: None listed
* Experience Required: Prior prep‑kitchen experience
* Experience Preferred: None listed
* Skills & Characteristics Required:
o General understanding of recipes and food production
o Neat and clean appearance
o Knowledge of proper food handling and storage procedures
o Ability to organize and work in a high‑paced environment
o ServSafe Certification completed within 12 months of hire
