Senior Physiotherapy Assistant role at NHS. Location: Orpington Hospital with possible cross-site working at Denmark Hill. Band 3, permanent, part-time.

Responsibilities
Clinical Responsibilities
* Work with the Neurological Outpatients Physiotherapy team based at Orpington Hospital with possible cross-site work at Denmark Hill.
* Deliver outpatient Physiotherapy treatments to a wide range of patients and conditions as part of a small team of Physiotherapists.
* Hold a small caseload of patients and support rehabilitation programmes under the direction of the Physiotherapy team, progressing to independent routine treatment sessions as competencies are achieved.
* Support group exercise classes and assist with progression of individual or group treatments.
* Assist with the selection, fitting, removal and application of functional/supportive aids (e.g., prostheses, splints, braces) once competent.
* Assist with data collection for recognised outcome measures and document patient responses to treatment.
* Ensure safe patient progression, including assessment of stair use and safe handling during rehabilitation activities.
* Communicate effectively with patients, carers and other professionals; tailor communication to the patient’s level of understanding and cognition, including use of interpreters when needed.
Administrative Responsibilities
* Maintain and use departmental equipment safely; report defects promptly and manage stock within clinical areas.
* Undertake routine administrative tasks (photocopying, record keeping, filing, appointments) and manage the departmental email inbox.
* Assist with non-clinical induction of assistants and students as required and liaise with the Physiotherapy team to support service delivery.
* Maintain confidentiality of patient information in line with Trust policies; contribute to the smooth running of the department clinically and administratively.
Systems and Data Management
* Maintain accurate patient notes and activity records in line with departmental policy; use Trust software (e.g., EPIC).
Education and Training
* Demonstrate capability in physiotherapy assistant skills by completing tasks in the Assistant Induction Checklist within the first 3 months of employment.
* Participate in mandatory training and complete personal development requirements; contribute to the assistant in-service training programme.
* Maintain Lifelong Learning (LLL) and pursue opportunities for professional development.
* Complete Therapy Handling training and comply with guidelines.
Qualifications and Experience
Essential: experience delivering care to patients in health or social care; ability to learn new procedures; basic knowledge of the role of a physiotherapist; basic numeracy and keyboard skills; good teamwork; clear written and verbal English; willingness to work flexibly across Trust sites; ability to work with minimal supervision; willingness to personal development; recognise boundaries of own practice.
Desirable: NVQ Level 3; GCSEs in Maths or English; knowledge of NHS structure; IT skills including email.
