Job Summary
Central to GKN Aerospace’s Luton manufacturing plant, the Centre of Excellence (CoE) Architect delivers business global support and best practices for the analysis and design of applications and solutions. The role collaborates with IT operations, security, PMO and business partners to define and support the IT strategy, implementation of standards, and lifecycle management of applications. Occasional regional and international travel may be required. Core working hours at the Luton site are 07:30–16:30 Monday to Thursday, and 07:30–12:30 on Fridays.
Job Responsibilities
* Work as part of a global team of subject matter experts to deliver support within agreed SLAs.
* Collaborate with IT operations, security, PMO and business partners to align with the IT operating model.
* Educate the business on the latest capabilities and drive standard application best practice.
* Ensure IT security requirements are integrated into future designs.
* Provide structured training for business users.
* Support implementation of global IT standards, application lifecycle management and the change request process.
* Generate unified definitions of target landscapes based on functional and non‑functional requirements to determine solutions and environments.
* Gather requirements, communicate global standards, and identify suitable solutions.
* Assist in estimating time, cost and impact assessments for projects.
* Document, maintain and communicate processes and procedures.
* Support annual IT budgeting and liaise with external parties where required.
Essential Qualifications
* Experience supporting an information technology environment.
* Experience with manufacturing or business systems.
* Proactive with independent judgement.
* Strong teamwork, listening, challenging and communication skills.
* Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
* Excellent problem‑solving, analytical and business process knowledge.
* Professionalism, flexibility and proven experience in system development or support.
* Good written and oral communication in English.
* Experience in a customer‑facing role.
* Understanding of architecture methodologies.
Desirable Qualifications
* Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field.
* Commitment to continuous learning and knowledge sharing.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
* Knowledge of project management and change‑management methodologies.
* Experience in an application development environment.
