Job Title: Technical Project Leader – Powertrain

As a Technical Project Leader within the Powertrain Technical Delivery function, you will act as the primary point of contact for one or more vehicle programmes.
In this role, you will support the Technical Delivery Manager in managing all Powertrain content for the assigned programme. You will be responsible for identifying and managing risks early, resolving issues efficiently, and ensuring delivery remains on track in line with programme timing and cost targets.
Responsibilities
* Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders to proactively identify, manage, and escalate emerging Powertrain risks throughout the vehicle development lifecycle
* Enable Programme teams to make high-quality, informed decisions through clear communication, structured analysis, and effective stakeholder engagement
* Ensure technical, timing, and cost assumptions for Powertrain commodities remain aligned across Engineering, Procurement, Finance, and supplier teams
* Monitor programme spend and work collaboratively with Engineering and Finance teams to ensure sufficient funding remains available to complete required activities
* Lead and coordinate engineering teams to ensure commodity requirements are understood, designs are completed on time, and validation activities at both component and system levels are delivered as planned
* Balance design change requests against timing, cost, and programme impact, supporting changes that deliver value while protecting programme objectives
* Prepare high-level programme status updates and manage auditable elements of the Product Creation and Delivery System
* Champion effective change management through engagement with appropriate internal and external forums
* Contribute to impact assessments and apply risk mitigation techniques to maximise the likelihood of successful and sustainable implementation of change
* Undertake additional tasks as required in line with the role
Knowledge, Skills & Experience
Essential:
* Proven experience in a Project or Programme Management role with a strong track record of delivery
* Demonstrable experience managing stakeholders in complex, cross-functional environments
* Structured, methodical approach to work with strong attention to detail
* Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
* Relevant degree or equivalent professional experience
* Ability to travel independently across the West Midlands
Desirable:
* Fundamental understanding of vehicle powertrain systems, including electrified and/or internal combustion technologies
* Knowledge of commercial aspects of project delivery, including supplier engagement, tooling, and budget management
* Experience working within a structured Product Creation & Delivery or programme management environment
* Project management or continuous improvement qualifications (e.g. PRINCE2, PMP, APMP/ChPP, AgilePM, Six Sigma or similar)
* Experience using project management and Agile toolsets such as JIRA, Confluence, Primavera P6, or Microsoft Project
