Key Responsibilities
As an SEN Teaching Assistant in Upper KS2, your responsibilities will include:
* Providing 1:1 SEN support for pupils with autism and additional needs
* Supporting pupils in line with EHCP outcomes and individual support plans
* Helping pupils develop organisation, focus, and self-regulation skills
* Supporting access to the KS2 curriculum through adapted tasks and scaffolding
* Assisting pupils with managing anxiety, particularly around assessments and transitions
* Supporting social interaction and peer relationships
* Encouraging independence while providing structured guidance
* Supporting pupils during unstructured times, including breaks and transitions
* Working closely with class teachers to ensure inclusive lesson delivery
* Supporting preparation for secondary school transition, including routines and expectations
* Observing and recording progress to inform SEN planning and reviews
* Maintaining high standards of safeguarding and pupil wellbeing
This role requires patience, consistency, and a strong understanding of the social and emotional challenges faced by older primary pupils with SEN.
