Community Mental Health Team Manager

Are you an existing team manager or an experienced practitioner looking to expand yourprofessional development in operational team management?Are you passionate about supporting individuals through their perinatal mental health journey?If so now is the time for you to join the York and Scarborough Perinatal Mental Health Teamwho are looking to appoint a band 7 team manager.You will be joining a dedicated and compassionate team in York and Scarborough who provide vital care for women and families during one of the most important times in their lives. The team has an established MDT staff team, you will be also joining an established peer group of perinatal mental health leadership across the 2 teams in North Yorkshire and York.The team manager role is vital to support the team in the delivery of high-quality, evidence- based mental health intervention to women during the perinatal period (from pregnancy through to the first year following childbirth).The team aims to meet the needs of the local population who present with complex perinatal mental health needs. The team provide assessment and intervention for people who havemild through to severe and enduring mental health needs as well as working alongside community services within the area.


Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will lead the team to deliver high-quality mental health services to women during pregnancy and the postnatal period. Key responsibilities include:? Providing expert clinical assessment, treatment, and support.? Collaborating with healthcare professionals to ensure integrated care.? Offering specialist advice and consultation.? Developing and delivering tailored care plans.? Training and supervising junior staff and students.? Engaging in research and service development.The role also involves effective leadership, management, and service development topromote recovery and well-being for all service users. Responsibilities include:? Supervision and appraisal of the team.? Performance management, including key performance indicators.? Recruitment and management of staff.? Ensuring timely access to services and treatment in line with pathways.? Building and maintaining relationships and managing varied work demands.Although the main duties focus on operational effectiveness, there will be opportunities for direct clinical work as needed

Person Specification


Qualifications

* Current professional registration with appropriate body in healthcare or social work or relevant professional clinical qualification (ie PWP/CWP in IAPT/Getting Help services)
* Be Educated to Master's level in leadership or a subject area relevant to the area of practice OR
* Have equivalent clinical experience to that of masters level such as working as a band 6 (or above) in relevant clinical area with significant experience - which also includes significant experience of managing people (see below under experience), together with evidence of CPD
* Be trained in Clinical Supervision and Providing Clinical Supervision
* Be a Recognised Practice Assessor/Practice Supervisor


Experience

* Significant experience of managing people
* Significant experience of working with patients with complex needs in the specialist field and working with patients who display risk behaviours
* Working collaboratively with others (external partners, staff service users and their families/carers)
* Working knowledge of the legal framework and statutory obligations under the Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act and other relevant legislation
* Detailed understanding of Safeguarding and its application in practice
* Risk assessment and management and its application in practice and Working knowledge of clinical medicines management
* Evidence of training in Quality Improvement methodology or coaching, and/or using.


Knowledge

* Significant evidenced based knowledge, to post-graduate level, of best practice in caring for patients in the designated field
* Detailed understanding of Clinical Risk Assessment and Management and its application in practice.


Skills

* Provide effective leadership
* Communicate complex and sensitive information effectively to patients, carers/families and all members of
* Work positively and collaboratively in partnership with external agencies
