Best Interests Assessor (BIA) - Adult Social Care
Location: Trafford
Rate: £32 per hour (Umbrella)
Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday
Key Responsibilities
* Undertake Best Interest Assessments for DoLS applications within statutory timescales
* Complete high-quality, evidence-based reports to support decision‑making
* Determine whether arrangements constitute a deprivation of liberty and if this is in the individuals best interests
* Maintain effective communication with service users, families, and carers
* Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary professionals and care providers
* Contribute to screening applications, auditing, and quality assurance processes
* Undertake Part 8 reviews and support Court of Protection processes where required
* Support the development of the service and provide guidance to managing authorities
Requirements
* Qualified Social Worker, Nurse, Occupational Therapist, or Psychologist
* BIA qualification (valid and in date)
* Registered with the relevant professional body (e.g., Social Work England)
* Minimum 2 years post-qualified experience
* Experience completing DoLS assessments within a local authority setting
* Strong working knowledge of:
o Mental Capacity Act (2005)
o Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS)
o Relevant case law and Court of Protection processes
* Excellent report writing, analytical, and communication skills
* Ability to manage a complex caseload independently and meet deadlines
Desirable
* Experience with Liquidlogic or similar case management systems
