Further Information
1. Are you kind, caring and compassionate?
2. Do you want to make a difference to the lives of children and adults with additional needs in Stockton-on-Tees?
3. Are you looking for a new challenge where you can work around your other commitments in daytime hours Monday - Friday?
Then look no further! We are delighted to be recruiting for Passenger Assistants to join our friendly and supportive team on a casual cover basis.
We offer a vital service to the local communities of Stockton-on-Tees and are looking for enthusiastic, friendly and hardworking individuals to join us in ensuring children and vulnerable adults can be transported safely and comfortably.
The roles currently on offer are casual posts, meaning you will work as-and-when needed by the service based on your availability, allowing you to fit work in with your other commitments. Many of our permanent members of the team started with us on a casual basis and enjoyed it so much that they then applied for permanent roles within the service.
As a Passenger Assistant, you will be responsible for safely transporting children and vulnerable adults with additional needs to and from school and day service provision. In practice, this will involve helping passengers board and exit the vehicle and ensuring their comfort and health and safety during the journey.
Shifts are offered on a casual basis (i.e. to cover absence of those allocated to permanent routes) and the working pattern for the post is split shifts; mornings from 07:00 – 09:30 and afternoons 14:30 – 17:00, (up to a maximum of 15 hours per week) Monday to Friday during school term time.
Whilst we are building an initial pool of casual staff to provide cover for holidays and sickness, we plan to recruit from this pool when permanent opportunities arise.
You must have a kind, caring nature with strong communication skills to interact with passengers, their carers / parents and staff at the establishments they attend.
Whilst previous experience of working with children or vulnerable adults is desirable, it is not essential – just a positive attitude, excellent communication skills and the ability to work on your own initiative.
As this role will involve working with Children and Vulnerable Adults, you will also need to undergo safeguarding checks including an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check.
For more detailed information about the role, please refer to the Job Description and Person Specification included in the Supporting Documents section.
Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council prides itself on being a great place to work where staff are trusted, valued and supported to make a positive contribution at work.
We offer an excellent total reward package, including:
4. A competitive salary
5. Access to a number of other employee benefits including learning & development opportunities, a car lease scheme, discounts at high street and online retailers, an employee assistance programme and physiotherapy services.
