This position sits within our successful and market‑leading Valuation & Investment Advisory team, which is structured through ‘Commercial’ Valuation, ‘Specialist’ Valuation and ‘Investment Advisory’ workstreams. The team provides a focused yet diverse range of services to both public and private sector clients, including purchase and disposal reports, asset valuations, option appraisals, secured lending valuations, credit assessments and alternative use evaluations, portfolio strategy advice, landlord & tenant work, overage and expert witness/dispute resolution advice.
With growing demand for its services from both established and new clients, the team has ambitious plans for expansion. We are now seeking a Surveyor / Senior Surveyor to join the team, based in Edinburgh.
This is a pivotal role that involves delivering a wide range of valuation‑focused advice while managing and mentoring a graduate surveyor. ROLE OVERVIEW
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Surveyor / Senior Surveyor to join our Valuation & Investment Advisory team, working across a diverse mix of public and private sector work. The successful candidate will advise a variety of UK and international clients on an extensive range of asset types, including major mixed‑use regeneration projects, industrial and logistics parks, town centre regeneration projects, shopping centres, retail warehouse parks, trophy and ‘value‑add’ office buildings, defence property assets, schools and sports stadia.
MAIN DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES, ACCOUNTABILITIES
* Undertake valuations for investment, development and financial reporting purposes.
* Prepare detailed valuation reports in accordance with the RICS Valuation - Global Standards (Red Book).
* Use sound market analysis and recognised valuation methodologies across property sectors.
* Provide clients with landlord & tenant advice, including negotiations on rent reviews, lease extensions and restructures.
* Engage in business development and client meetings.
* Overall, this is a valuation and general practice surveying role.
TEAM COLLABORATION & SUPPORT
* Contribute to team development through knowledge‑sharing and support for junior colleagues.
* Work collaboratively with other Montagu Evans teams to provide holistic advice.
MARKET ENGAGEMENT
* Stay up‑to‑date with market trends, regulatory updates and wider economic influences.
* Represent the firm at industry events, client meetings and networking opportunities.
* Raise the internal and external profile of the VAIA team through industry events and activities.

* MRICS qualified and competent in standard RICS Red Book valuations.
