We welcome a senior education leader to develop, deliver and sustain high‑quality education programmes across the Trust, supporting doctors, nurses and other healthcare professionals.
Main duties of the job
As Head of Education, you will:
* Collaborate with the Director of Education, Training and Workforce to realise the Trust’s People Strategy and deliver strategic education projects.
* Work closely with the Head of Workforce to evolve workforce and education plans, ensuring a fit‑for‑practice workforce that aligns with national objectives.
* Build and maintain relationships with universities, HEIs, commercial partners, professional and regulatory bodies, and other senior stakeholders.
* Lead the Skills for Practice team and deputise for the Director of Education and Workforce at meetings and forums.
Job responsibilities
* Provide strategic leadership and expertise on clinical and non‑clinical education and development across the Trust.
* Partner with senior leaders to identify education needs and recommend suitable interventions.
* Engage with external education providers to secure training capacity for staff.
* Develop and manage the Trust workforce and education plan in collaboration with the Head of Workforce.
* Lead and manage the Skills for Practice leads and team.
* Deputise for the Director of Education and Workforce at the required meetings and forums.
Person Specification
Qualifications, knowledge and experience
* MSc or equivalent in education or a related field.
* Proven senior leadership experience in education.
* Experience in planning and implementing complex education programmes.
* In‑depth knowledge of national health education and workforce strategy.
* Track record of working with external partners to organise education for large numbers of staff.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
* Willingness to travel locally and nationally.
* Completed senior leadership programme or qualification.
* Knowledge of government education and skills strategies.
* Experience with national or regional education groups or projects.
* NHS senior education leadership and management experience.
