Whether you're an experienced Principal Engineer ready to take technical and project leadership, or a driven Marine Engineer seeking to develop your specialist expertise, this role offers genuine career progression within a collaborative environment delivering high-profile coastal, marine and waterfront infrastructure projects.
The practice specialises in providing innovative and sustainable solutions across marine and coastal engineering, supporting harbour improvements, coastal defence schemes, waterfront regeneration and infrastructure works. Its marine capability spans feasibility studies, condition surveys, concept and detailed design, hydraulic and numerical modelling, consenting and statutory approvals, construction support and asset lifecycle management. Projects include breakwaters, quay walls, revetments, dredging, tidal works, sea defences and intertidal structures, all delivered with a strong focus on technical rigour, risk-based engineering and environmental sensitivity.
Successful candidates will contribute to the delivery of a diverse project portfolio, working closely with multidisciplinary design teams and external stakeholders. Responsibilities include producing detailed calculations, technical drawings and specifications; undertaking site inspections and condition assessments; preparing technical reports and consents documentation; and liaising with clients, regulators and contractors throughout project stages. Principal Engineers will take additional responsibility for project leadership, technical quality assurance, client engagement and mentoring of junior staff.
Applicants should hold a relevant engineering degree and be working towards, or hold, Chartered status with a recognised professional institution. Experience in marine or coastal engineering within a consultancy or contractor environment is essential, along with proficiency in industry software and a strong understanding of UK design standards and regulatory frameworks. A full UK driving licence is preferred.
The practice offers a competitive salary and a comprehensive benefits package, including structured professional development, support towards Chartership, flexible working options, and opportunities to work on technically challenging and impactful marine infrastructure schemes. Whether you're an established senior engineer or an ambitious mid-level professional, this is a chance to grow your career with a respected and expanding engineering team.
