Llaeth y Llan produces and delivers its own brand of dairy products. The products are specially targeted at independent food retailers, multi-retailers, and wholesalers within the chilled food sector. Llaeth Y Llan also develop and produce bespoke yogurt products for individual brands including own label.
JOB PURPOSE
To ensure that Llaeth Y Llan remain relevant with an active NPD pipeline, working with process (production) and marketing to deliver an innovation pipeline for the future. The job requires a practical hands-on approach to managing the critical path – as well as customer facing.
Hours of Work: 7am to 16:00pm. Monday to Friday. Candidate must be flexible to meet the demands of the business.
PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES
* Comply with the NPD procedural intent.
* Create an innovation pipeline by identifying new opportunities in the marketplace, aligning with company strategic goals.
* Review competitor new product launches in the dairy sector and conduct regular benchmarking activities with key stakeholders.
* Work with the commercial manager to review market data and performance (Nielsen/Dunnhumby).
* In conjunction with marketing, conduct consumer market research where required.
* Conduct regular screening of retail / wholesale "on-line" reviews & feed any improvements necessary back into the NPD workstream where appropriate. Monitor / Trend.
* Ensure a brief is received for all "projects" and a feasibility study conducted where applicable (to ensure project viability).
* Project manage the critical path for all NPD/EPD activities.
* Chair the bi-weekly NPD meetings.
* Populate LYL brand and customer own Label product specifications.
* Manage the sites "approved supplier list" which must be updated with raw material specifications, allergen status, country of origin / provenance, supplier approval status, risk assessment etc... Include horizon scanning to keep updated of any current industry concerns.
* Establish an NPD KPI monthly, report against defined metrics.
* Manage "change" throughout the business (change control) – this includes product de-lists / new launches, redundant stock & managing the process to avoid write off values.
* Capture "trial data" and create project folders per product launch for reference in audits.
* Represent NPD during BRCGS and other customer audits.
* Ensure any "new" raw materials, products or processes are put through the sites HACCP team for any wider technical implications and considerations. Be aware of any allergen implications and site procedures.
* Create "launch packs" and conduct a pre-launch meeting for production, so staff are aware of requirements ahead of any launch.
* Send samples to customers / laboratories for analysis, as required.
* Create recipes that are version controlled and costed & in compliance with production restraints.
* Generate calculated nutritional's for indicative vales for submission forms.
* Populate retailer sample submission forms through the development process.
* Co-ordinate the artwork approval process, including the signing off of 1st deliveries of new packaging and attending first print runs – as required.
* Liase with suppliers of ingredients and packaging to keep abreast of any "new" innovations.
* Ad hoc duties as required.
* Comply with all health and safety guidance.
