Role Overview - Toolmaker
Our client, a successful international manufacturing group, is looking for an experienced Toolmaker to join their injection moulding and press-tooling team. Based at a modern, well-invested production facility in West Drayton, you will play a key role in supporting high-volume precision injection moulding and metal-forming operations through the maintenance, repair and enhancement of critical production tooling.
Key Responsibilities – Toolmaker
Organise and manage daily tasks to support production schedules and meet required timescales
Produce new tool components accurately from the latest engineering drawings
Undertake repairs, servicing and upgrades on complex injection mould tools and press tooling
Use a full range of precision measuring instruments including micrometres, verniers, slip gauges, thread/pin gauges and optical profile projectors
Safely operate conventional machine tools such as mills, lathes, surface grinders, cylindrical grinders, jig grinders and spark erosion equipment
Perform high-quality bench fitting and finishing work
Keep the workplace tidy and carry out basic preventative maintenance on machines
Immediately highlight any equipment issues to the supervisor
Assist colleagues and complete additional reasonable duties as directed
Key Experience & Skills – Toolmaker
Completed toolmaking apprenticeship or relevant engineering qualification is desirable
Significant hands-on experience maintaining and repairing high-precision injection mould tools (experience with multi-cavity, hot-runner or unscrewing moulds is particularly welcome)
Good understanding of tool steels, injection mould design principles and associated manufacturing processes
Ability to interpret technical drawings to British Standards
Confident using precision inspection equipment and verifying components meet specification
Knowledge of progression press tooling would be an advantage
Laser welding capability is desirable but not essential
Valid Abrasive Wheels certificate required
Comfortable using Microsoft Office packages
Self-motivated with excellent attention to detail and a positive approach to problem-solving
