Role Purpose
We are seeking a proactive and experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team and manage designs from initial concept through to commissioning.
Key Responsibilities
As a key member of our design team, you will be involved in the full product lifecycle:
* Design & Development: Designing bespoke machinery and conveyor systems; creating detailed 3D models, assemblies, and mechanical part drawings using SolidWorks and AutoCAD 2D.
* Production Preparation: Utilising 2D & 3D nesting software to create accurate flat patterns and nests for our in-house laser cutting machine.
* Documentation: Preparing and issuing accurate Bills of Materials (BOMs) and creating comprehensive machine manuals.
* Compliance: Carrying out risk assessments and ensuring designs comply with the Machinery Directive/ Machinery Regulation.
* Quality & Process: Establishing and implementing processes to ensure designs meet user specifications and regulatory standards.
* Project Involvement: Assisting with stock control and involvement in the commissioning and testing of your designs.
Essential Skills and Experience
* Software Proficiency: Proven expertise in 3D SolidWorks and AutoCAD 2D is essential.
* Nesting Software: Competence in Tru-Tops Boost nesting or similar 3D laser nesting software is essential.
* Office Skills: Proficient use of Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Access) and Adobe Acrobat.
* Technical Knowledge: Solid working knowledge of various materials and manufacturing processes.
* Problem-Solving: Strong analytical ability to resolve issues and implement improvements effectively.
* Project Management: Excellent organisational and time management skills to handle multiple tasks to deadline.
* Experience with RADAN software is beneficial but not essential.
