Teaching Assistant

A welcoming and inclusive mainstream primary school in West Drayton is seeking an experienced Teaching Assistant to join their team. The role primarily involves providing dedicated 1:1 support to a pupil with additional needs, while also offering flexible support across KS1 and KS2 classes when the pupil is not in school.

The Role
As a Teaching Assistant, you will:
• Provide consistent 1:1 support for a pupil with SEN within a mainstream classroom
• Support learning in line with the pupil’s EHCP or individual support plan
• Implement strategies to support communication, engagement, and behaviour
• Adapt learning activities to meet individual needs
• Promote independence, confidence, and positive behaviour
• Provide classroom support across KS1–KS2 when the pupil is absent
• Work closely with class teachers, the SENCo, and external professionals
• Support social interaction and emotional regulation
• Help maintain a calm, safe, and inclusive learning environment
About You
• Previous experience supporting children with SEN in a school setting in the UK
• Minimum Level 2 or 3 qualification in Supporting Teaching & Learning, Early Years, or equivalent (e.g., CACHE, NVQ, or Diploma)
• Confident working on a 1:1 basis and adaptable to support different classes
• Experience using communication strategies such as PECS, Makaton, or other AAC tools
• Patient, calm, and resilient with a nurturing approach
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Reliable, flexible, and committed to inclusive education
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply via Uniform Education)
