My client, a market leading Sustainability and Building Services Consultancy based in Cardiff is searching for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join their experienced team.
This is an office based role, offering varied carbon reduction projects for commercial, retail and industrial projects across the UK. This role will offer site visits across the region and decarbonised heating projects.
As a Mechanical Engineer you will be expected to complete detailed mechanical designs including heating, ventilation, plumbing and air–conditioning using AutoCAD and Revit for plant rooms for commercial and mixed–use developments.
You will be expected to manage projects, deliver technical designs and liaise with Clients and contractors across local sites. A full UK driving licence will be required for this role.
You will also be expected to;
–Complete 2D and 3D models, perform heat load calculations, duct sizing, pipe sizing, and equipment selection using relevant software (e.g., Revit and AutoCAD).
– Prepare, review and amend mechanical drawings, schematics, simulations and technical specifications in accordance with building codes, sustainability goals, and project requirements.
–Design to BIM level 2 in accordance with British Standards PAS 1192–5
–Collaborate with electrical, plumbing, and low–carbon engineers to ensure coordinated MEP layouts and avoid design clashes and design efficient solutions.
– Attend internal and client meetings to resolve design issues/queries and align project objectives.
–Review designs submitted by the team and respond to RFIs (Requests for Information).
–Site Surveys to assess and record plant room layouts, heating and hot water distribution systems.
–Site visits to monitor installation quality, verify compliance with original designs and highlight issues during construction.
–Evaluate new materials and designs ensuring energy efficiency and cost–effectiveness.
–Attend Client meetings across South Wales.

As a Mechanical Engineer, you will be expected to have a BSc and/or an MSc Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering and have experience working for UK based Consultancy completing detailed HVAC designs for plant rooms, residential, mixed–use and commercial developments using AutoCAD and Revit
You are also required to have a detailed knowledge PAS 1192–5 and other relevant codes and have a keen understanding of BREEAM and net zero.
Candidates are required to live locally (or be prepared to relocate to South Wales) have a valid UK driving licence to visit sites.
