Bedford Citizens Housing Association,BCHA, is housing and care provider in Bedford. We are a small organisation whoare committed to providing high quality care, support and housing in Bedford.We have wide range of stock including a registered care home, extra carehousing, sheltered housing and general needs housing.
The Role
BCHA is seeking experienced SeniorCarer to deliver excellent care to the residents of Bedford Charter House, our Care Home on Kimbolton Road. The successful candidates will need tobe qualified to at least NVQ level 3 and have recent medications training.
Please note all applicants must already hold the legal right to work in the UK and be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 (unless medically exempt) to be able to fulfil this role.
Main duties and responsibilities:
1.
To lead one of the care teamsproviding personal care and support to residents to ensure residents lead anactive and fulfilling life. Contribute to the supervision and development ofthe care staff.
2.
To assist residents according totheir needs and wishes with personal care including washing, toileting,dressing, undressing, continence control and at mealtimes
3.
To be responsible for theadministration of drugs medication on your section and assist with orderingand stock takes.
4.
To carry out assessments for newresidents and prepare Care Plans for new residents and keep them up to dateincluding handover notes.
5.
To care for residents who are unwellor dying, under supervision.
6.
To attend handover meetings for yoursection promptly at the beginning of each shift. To give handover.
7.
Following training to act within thelegal and regulatory requirements covering care homes, including:
Care Standards Act
Health & Safety requirements
8.
To be aware of, and comply with,Bedford Charter House and Bedford Citizens' Housing Association's Policiesand Procedures.
9.
Ensure that all visitors to BCHAreceive a warm and professional welcome. Make sure that any questions receivedfrom relatives of residents are answered accurately, referring to a Managerwhere appropriate any questions which you cannot answer.
10.
Reporting to the Care Home Managerany concerns regarding the health and wellbeing of residents and liaison withhealth care professionals including booking appointments for residents whenappropriate.
11.
To assist in providing mental andphysical stimulation for residents
12.
Assist with duties in the diningroom, kitchen or laundry as and when required.
13.
To ensure residents have sufficienttoiletries, clothing etc and advise relatives when such items need replacing
14.
Demonstrate an up-to-date knowledgeof SOVA & MCA requirements and work within these guidelines at all times.
15.
To undertake training as required tofulfil the duties and responsibilities of the role
