Job Summary
We are looking to appoint a locum consultant paediatrician to join our existing paediatric team to provide high‑quality comprehensive consultant‑only secondary care to the local community in the Bailiwick of Guernsey (approx. 65,000 people).
About Us
We are a partnership of 56 consultants that provides specialist medical services to the Guernsey Health Service under a model different from the NHS. In addition to contract care, we offer private care carried out in both MSG and PEH facilities and support a consultant private practice. Tertiary care is supplied by hospitals on the UK mainland, mainly Southampton University Hospital, generally through contracted services.
The Princess Elizabeth Hospital is a modern 145‑bed facility with strong clinical links to UK mainland centres, particularly Southampton General Hospital and Kings College Hospital.

Responsibilities
Provide high‑quality comprehensive consultant‑only secondary care in paediatrics and neonatology to the Bailiwick of Guernsey. Work as part of a team of four paediatricians to manage full‑range paediatric and neonatal emergencies, stabilise and manage ventilated neonates, and identify safeguarding concerns. Deliver clinical excellence, good communication and collaboration within the team.
Person Specification
Experience (Essential)
* Ability to manage the full range of paediatric and neonatal emergencies encountered within a general hospital.
* Experience in the stabilisation and management of ventilated neonates.
* Minimum of 1 year experience in a level 3 neonatal unit at ST6 or above.
* Ability to identify and examine children with safeguarding concerns.
* Some clinical experience of community paediatrics.
Experience (Desirable)
* Experience in neonatal transportation.
* More than 1 year experience at consultant level.
Qualifications (Essential)
* MBBS (or equivalent)
* MRCPCH (or equivalent)
* Full registration with the GMC
* On GMC Specialist Register or within 6 months of CCT at interview date
* NLS provider within last 4 years
* APLS provider within last 4 years
* Level 3 child protection training
* Eligible to work and reside in the UK
Qualifications (Desirable)
* Higher degree
* Qualification in chosen sub‑specialty
* ARNI
* NLS or APLS instructor
* Level 4 or 5 child protection training
