Mechanical Engineering Lead Location: Reading, UK Pay: £84,200 - £114,000 per annum Our Client, a leading player in the petrochemical and refining sector, is hiring for a reputed client to support a major project aimed at enhancing the olefins value chain through a world-scale mixed-feed steam cracker and refinery upgrades. This is an exciting opportunity to lead technical excellence during the pre-FEED phase of a transformative project. What you'll be doing: * Provide engineering leadership and technical expertise to ensure safe, operable, and cost-effective facilities. * Collaborate with project teams and contractors to identify and mitigate risks, optimise scope, and improve capital efficiency. * Oversee the development and application of engineering standards, philosophies, and specifications. * Assess new technology proposals, ensuring they meet project and industry standards. * Manage technical reviews, scope development, and contractor deliverables, ensuring alignment with project objectives. * Lead static equipment oversight, including pressure vessels, heat exchangers, and piping systems, ensuring compliance with codes and standards. * Develop and execute engineering surveillance programmes to maintain design integrity. * Support risk-based decision-making and ensure technical definition maturity throughout project stages. What you'll bring: * Extensive experience in static equipment design, analysis, and integrity management within refining or chemical processing. * Proven leadership in multidisciplinary project environments, with strong collaboration and communication skills. * Deep knowledge of static equipment technologies, stress analysis, fitness-for-service assessments, and NDE methods. * Ability to develop and optimise engineering standards and specifications. * Familiarity with large-scale module design and execution strategies. * Experience working with or understanding of Middle East projects and cultures is advantageous. * Strong analytical skills, with a focus on risk management and technical problem-solving. Qualifications: * Relevant technical qualifications in Mechanical Engineering or related fields. * Experience with static equipment codes, standards, and regulatory requirements. * Demonstrated ability to lead technical teams and manage complex project scopes.
