Key Duties/Accountabilities (Sample): • Undertake high-quality Child and Family Assessments (including under Section 17 and Section 47 of the Children Act) • Respond to new referrals in a timely and child-centred way • Work collaboratively with families, children and professionals to ensure children are safeguarded and supported • Investigate concerns about children’s safety and welfare and take appropriate action • Manage a varied and complex caseload in line with statutory requirements and organisational policies • Prepare concise and analytical reports for child protection conferences, legal proceedings and other forums • Use a strengths-based, relational approach to working with families and multi-agency teams • Participate in supervision, reflective practice and regular team meetings • Contribute to service improvement and uphold the organisation’s values and standards • Ensure accurate case recording and compliance with relevant legislation and frameworks Skills/Experience: • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in statutory children’s services • Proven experience in completing S17 and S47 assessments • Skilled in managing child protection, CIN, and looked after children cases • Strong analytical, written and verbal communication skills • Familiarity with Signs of Safety, relational practice or other strengths-based models • Ability to work independently while maintaining high professional standards • Commitment to child-centred practice and improving outcomes for children • Good understanding of safeguarding legislation and statutory guidance (e.g., Working Together to Safeguard Children) Additional Information: • The closing date: 31/10/2025. • Qualified Social Worker (DipSW, CQSW, CSS or equivalent). • Social Work England registration. • Hours: 37 hours per week. • Location: Leominster (office-based with some flexibility). • Annual Leave: 31 days per year (plus bank holidays), with the option to purchase up to 10 additional days. • Flexible Working: Options include flexi-time, part-time hours, job share, and some home working.
