Teacher of OCR A Level Design & Technology: Design Engineering

We are a high performing sixth form college with an ambitious vision for Design & Technology and Engineering, and we are looking for a passionate Teacher of OCR A Level Design & Technology (Design Engineering) to join our forward thinking team. This is an opportunity to teach motivated, high achieving students in a college that genuinely values collaboration, realistic workload, and professional trust.

14. Training and mentoring are available for staff developing their engineering specialism, teachers transitioning from secondary school to A Level teaching, and Early Career Teachers.

The department and its direction

23. Strong and growing provision in Engineering
24. Typically two Year 12 and two Year 13 Design Engineering classes within the department
25. Expansion of the department with the addition of Engineering AAQ in September
26. Enrichment activities such as Inspiring Engineers built into timetabled time, not added workload

The role

As a Teacher of Design & Technology (Design Engineering), you will:

30. Deliver engaging, high‑quality A Level lessons that bring design engineering to life
31. Inspire students to develop creativity, confidence, and problem‑solving skills
32. Contribute to a rich, applied curriculum that connects learning to real‑world contexts
33. Work collaboratively within a supportive, high‑performing team
34. Support the development of employability skills such as problem‑solving, oracy, teamwork and project management

You’ll play a key role in preparing students for ambitious futures.

35. Qualified Design & Technology teachers
36. Early Career Teachers seeking strong support and development
37. Professionals from Engineering, Physics, Maths, or related fields looking to move into teaching

40. Skilled in using CAD, practical techniques, and digital tools to enhance learning

44. Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
