What will your role look like?
As an Associate Post Transaction Consultant, you’ll play a key role in supporting a portfolio of clients as they navigate the final stages of their journey from buy‑in to wind‑up. You’ll work closely with both Trustee Boards and Sponsoring Employers of UK defined benefit pension schemes, helping them progress confidently through complex and sensitive end‑game milestones.
You’ll be part of our Pensions Post Transaction Team, focusing on delivering clear, thoughtful advice, building strong relationships with client contacts, and managing multi‑disciplinary projects. The work is varied and offers excellent opportunities to broaden your experience and shape a career path that reflects your strengths and interests.
We welcome candidates with experience in UK pension schemes—whether gained in actuarial, administration, consulting or pension scheme management environments.

Though this is a varied role, your key tasks will include:
1. Leading or supporting multiple wind‑up projects, acting as a main point of contact for trustees or working groups.
2. Providing oversight of scheme wind‑up activities, including planning, monitoring and ensuring milestones are met.
3. Liaising with insurers, scheme administrators and stakeholders to maintain progress against project plans.
4. Leading or supporting strategic and technical aspects such as factor comparisons, lump sum exercises, funding reserves and surplus balance sheets.
5. Oversight (not delivery) of data cleansing, GMP Equalisation, administration transition and settlement of DC/residual benefits.
6. Supporting other business areas (risk transfer, actuarial consulting, governance, propositions, new business).
7. Managing delivery against project plans, escalating risks where needed.
8. Delivering training to clients.
9. Building and maintaining strong client relationships.
10. Preparing client invoices in line with internal deadlines.
11. Ensuring accuracy, rigour and clear audit trails across all work.
12. Keeping up to date with relevant pensions law and practice.
13. Collaborating within the Post Transaction Team and wider business.
14. Adhering to Information Security standards, policies and procedures.

Qualifications & experience:
21. A professional qualification (or part‑qualification) in pensions (e.g., APMI, AFPC or IFoA).
22. Ideally holds an Honours Degree.
23. Educated to at least A‑level/Scottish Higher level, or equivalent experience.
24. Experience in consultancy or supporting UK pension schemes (e.g., actuarial work, bulk annuities, trustee exec, scheme management).
25. Understanding of the legislative framework for UK pension schemes appropriate to experience.
