We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced PIP 1 Civilian Investigator to work for Lincolnshire Police at various locations across the region.

Lincolnshire Police are looking for investigators to work within either the Criminal Investigation Department CID at Lincoln and Skegness Police Stations, Major Crime Unit MCU - Sleaford Police Station, or the Protecting Vulnerable Persons PVP - Lincoln, Grantham, Boston.

Please note these roles involve shift patterns covering mornings, evenings, and weekends.

Purpose of the Role: To prepare and complete files in accordance with court deadlines, legislation, and force policy, ensuring that crimes under investigation are compliant with the Criminal Procedure and Investigations Act (CPIA) and the Victims Code of Practice.

Role Responsibilities:

1. Respond effectively to all reports of serious and complex crime.
2. Take ownership of serious and complex criminal investigations, develop and record investigation plans and strategies, prioritize lines of enquiry, and maximize evidence gathering while securing and preserving evidence under minimal supervision.
3. Conduct or coordinate all aspects of the investigation process, ensuring high-quality service to stakeholders.
4. Apply investigation procedures to ensure timely response and conclusion of investigations.
5. Gather, develop, and utilize intelligence effectively using force IT systems to enhance investigations and inform other departments or management of risks and safeguarding concerns.
6. Prepare case files within designated timescales, ensuring legislative compliance with CPIA, disclosure rules, and guidance manuals for presentation in court.
7. Attend court and give evidence related to aspects of investigations within the post holder’s knowledge or involvement.
8. Represent the organization in multi-agency meetings or case conferences, and apply relevant risk assessment processes for response and resource prioritization.
9. Cultivate and maintain good relations with internal departments, external stakeholders, and the community.
10. Be fully familiar and competent with relevant legislation, practice agreements, and investigation procedures.
11. Respond positively to operational requirements as directed by department managers.

Essential Requirements:

* Experience in gathering information and data from third parties, including research and interviewing techniques.
* Experience in problem solving and decision making, with the ability to critically analyze material.
* Experience working in a customer-focused environment.
* Experience handling confidential or sensitive material.
* Logical thinking and lateral vision for problem solving.
* Proficient IT skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and the ability to use force IT systems effectively after training.
* Ability to review and present information accurately with attention to detail.
* Self-motivated with a focus on high performance, acting as an ambassador for Lincolnshire Police.
