Job Responsibilities
The ideal candidate will work with the Life and Earth Sciences department at the Clarkston campus. The Laboratory Coordinator is responsible for safety and operations of multiple science labs, including planning, organizing, training, supervising, and evaluating personnel. Lab instruction may be required at the discretion of the supervisor.
* Plan, organize, and oversee the operations of instructional science laboratories.
* Develop, implement, and oversee lab policies and safety procedures.
* Train and supervise laboratory staff and assistants.
* Schedule personnel and support staff.
* Teach up to 3 lab courses per semester as needed.
* Serve as a resource for instructors.
* Assist in budget development and monitor expenditures.
* Manage inventory and oversee procurement of equipment and supplies.
* Oversee the collection and maintenance of biological specimens and cultures.
* Prepare lab materials and ensure maintenance of equipment.
* Ensure safety compliance and proper storage of hazardous materials.
* Coordinate lab upgrades and renovations.
* Maintain permits and ensure compliance with safety standards.
* Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
* Master's degree in Biology, or Bachelor's degree in the research area with one year of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
* Knowledge of lab tools, equipment, safety regulations, and current instructional software.
* Ability to lift and move equipment; Master's degree and Microbiology experience preferred.
* Collegiate biology teaching experience.
