Job Description
We are looking for an Applications Support Engineer to join our Resource Engineering team. If you have experience maintaining operational services for DSX/Vision suite of products, we would love to hear from you.
We seek someone experienced in fault finding for DSX & Vision product solutions at both hardware and software levels. As this is a fast-paced environment, the ability to manage changing priorities is essential.
Location: Fareham (Hampshire)
Working Pattern: 2 days 07:00–19:00, 2 nights 19:00–07:00, 4 days off. 24/7/365 shift pattern
Purpose of the Role
This role is key to supporting and maintaining NEC Public Safety solutions within a dedicated team. It reports to the MCA Communications Systems Support Engineer and focuses on incident triage, resolution, and proactive maintenance of NEC Public Safety systems.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
* Fault finding on NEC Public Safety’s DSX & Vision product suite at hardware and software levels.
* Create, review, and update engineering documentation such as work plans, instructions, and technical guides.
* Coordinate activities with third-party providers and internal teams, gathering and sharing information as required.
* Work from various MCA locations as needed.
* Engage with customers on technical and non-technical issues with professionalism and adaptability.
* Respond to customer queries regarding NEC Public Safety products, configuration, and performance.
* Follow NEC Public Safety and MCA processes and procedures.
* Complete activities within deadlines and report any difficulties in meeting SLAs or milestones.
Qualifications
Our ideal candidate:
* Has experience at 1st or 2nd line support in a service desk environment.
* Has shift work experience, including day and night shifts with a fixed 12-hour rotation.
* Is skilled in troubleshooting and problem solving.
* Has proven experience with Microsoft Windows 10, Windows Server up to 2016.
* Possesses working knowledge of MSSQL applications.
* Has practical TCP/IP network support experience.
* Is familiar with MS Office applications such as Excel, Visio, Word.
* Possesses excellent customer service skills.
* Has experience working according to ITIL best practices.
