Job Description
The Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority (CICA) is an executive agency of the Ministry of Justice, handling over 40,000 applications annually for compensation related to violent crimes. We aim to provide justice and support to victims, recognizing the sensitive and sometimes upsetting nature of the material accessed, including accounts of harm inflicted by others. We promote wellbeing through resilience training.
Based in Glasgow city centre, we are a small, engaged workforce committed to improving services and working conditions. This role is based at Buchanan Wharf, with a hybrid working model (3 days in the office, remainder at home).
The Role
The Senior Information Assurance and Risk Manager oversees risk management, information assurance, and fraud prevention activities, ensuring compliance and effective decision-making. Reporting to the Director of Corporate Services, you will represent your area at senior committees, lead a team of nine, and manage workstreams including data protection, information asset management, SARs, and FOI requests. You will also develop risk management and counter-fraud policies, fostering a proactive risk culture across CICA.
Key Responsibilities
1. Lead the organisation’s approach to risk, fraud prevention, and information assurance.
2. Manage SAR and FOI requests within statutory timeframes.
3. Improve risk management frameworks and maintain strategic risk registers.
4. Maintain policies on data protection and counter fraud, including incident management.
5. Engage with senior leaders to promote understanding of information security and risk.
6. Collaborate with the Data Protection Officer and Risk Owner to manage data governance.
7. Lead your team to meet business objectives and KPIs.
8. Build relationships with external stakeholders such as the ICO and Ombudsman.
Essential Criteria
* Experience in information assurance, data protection, FOIs, SARs, or related areas.
* Experience in developing information management policies.
* Understanding of relevant legislation and regulation.
* Experience with risk management frameworks and counter-fraud protocols.
* Proven leadership and management skills.
* Strong organizational and communication skills.
* Ability to develop effective stakeholder relationships.
Desirable Criteria
* Previous experience in a similar senior role.
