About The Role
Location: Fareham, Hampshire
Days & Hours: Permanent hours available as follows:
Week 1: Monday, 19.00-22.00
Week 2: Thursday, 13.00-17.00
Bank hours are available. This is a large care team with flexible hours to cover annual leave and sickness. Hours vary weekly, ranging from 3 to 10+ hours, including days and sleeping nights. You can choose to work only days, only nights, or a combination.
Pay:
* £13.65 per hour – Monday to Friday, Days, 8.00am to 8.00pm
* £15.00 per hour – Monday to Friday, Waking Nights, 8.00pm to 8.00am
* £15.00 per hour – Weekends, Days, 8.00am to 8.00pm
* £16.00 per hour – Weekends, Waking Nights, 8.00pm to 8.00am
* National Minimum Wage/National Living Wage per hour (dependent on age), Monday to Sunday, Sleeping Nights, 10.00pm to 7.00am
Driver required: Yes, to drive Verity's wheelchair adapted vehicle (automatic).
Accommodation (while on duty): Own room with toilet and tea-making facilities for sleeping night shifts.
Pets: The family has 1 small dog in the main house away from care areas.
Interviews: Initial telephone interview followed by face-to-face if successful.
Start Date: ASAP, subject to checks.
Verity is in her mid-40s with an acquired brain injury. She lives independently with 24-hour support from a team of Support Workers. She needs support with transfers, personal care, PEG feeding, catheter care, suctioning, and respiratory care. Training will be provided, and experience is not required but willingness to learn is essential.
Verity enjoys social activities, outings, and planning events. She is registered blind and communicates non-verbally through body language and facial expressions, which her support team will learn to interpret. She uses a wheelchair accessible vehicle for outings.
Overnight care involves one waking night Support Worker and one sleeping night Support Worker. The sleeping support has a separate suite and is only woken if assistance is needed.
Physical handling skills are required, with training provided. The role suits organized, dedicated, calm, proactive, and enthusiastic individuals who can communicate effectively with patience and warmth.
