Overview

We have a fantastic opportunity for Bank Ambulance Care Assistants to serve your local community and join our team based in Littlehampton and Tangmere areas. This is a 0 hour contract on an 'as and when' basis with shifts available between 06:00 – 23:00, 7 days per week.

An Ambulance Care Assistant (ACA) is a hugely rewarding and fulfilling role. Each day, you’ll be helping someone in need, making their lives that little bit easier, and knowing that you make a difference to their day provides you with a real sense of achievement.


Responsibilities

* Transport elderly, sick and vulnerable service users to and from medical appointments and between healthcare facilities. This can be carried out as two-person crews or alone, so a full UK driving licence and a good degree of physical fitness are required.
* Transport and assist service users in end-of-life care with a high level of empathy.
* Build rapport through effective communication with patients and their relatives/friends.
* Lift, secure and help service users in and out of the Ambulance.
* Hand over patients to appropriate staff on arrival at treatment centres/hospitals or to family/friends at home.
* Transfer patients between beds, stretchers, chairs, or similar, both in hospital and during medical flights.
* Assist service users with challenging behaviour or mental health conditions.
* Ensure the ambulance is kept safe, clean and tidy.


What you’ll need

* Calm, considerate, and careful driving
* Teamworking and collaboration
* Enhanced DBS check (company funded)
* Familiar with the local area
* Valid UK manual driving licence with less than 6 points
* Physical fitness for patient handling and moving
* Ability to work flexible shifts

Other duties

* Transporting service users to and from medical appointments and between facilities
* Assist with end-of-life transport with empathy
* Communicate with patients and relatives to build rapport
* Assist with patient handling and moving
* Handover patients to staff or family on arrival
* Maintain safety and cleanliness of the ambulance
