The role & about the client:
Our client is a well-established main contractor based in Portsmouth, delivering projects across the commercial, education, healthcare, residential and public sector markets throughout the South Coast region. Due to continued growth and a strong pipeline of secured work, they are looking to appoint an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join the commercial team. This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially astute Senior QS who has strong experience administering both JCT and/or NEC3/NEC4 contracts and is comfortable managing projects from pre-construction through to final account. The successful candidate will play a key role within the business, working closely with operational teams, clients and subcontractors to ensure projects are delivered successfully and profitably.
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
* Managing the commercial aspects of multiple construction projects
* Administering JCT and/or NEC3/NEC4 contracts
* Preparing valuations, variations, CVRs and final accounts
* Subcontract procurement and account management
* Cost reporting and forecasting
* Managing project cash flow and commercial risk
* Liaising closely with clients, consultants and site teams
* Supporting and mentoring junior commercial staff where required
* Ensuring projects are delivered within budget and maximise profitability
The ideal candidate will have:
* Proven experience working as a Senior Quantity Surveyor within a main contractor environment
* Strong knowledge of JCT contracts and/or NEC3/NEC4 contracts
* Experience delivering projects across sectors such as commercial, healthcare, education or residential
* Excellent commercial and contractual awareness
* Strong negotiation and communication skills
* Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
* Relevant construction qualification (HNC/HND/Degree or equivalent)
* Full UK driving licence
