Penguin Recruitment is delighted to be working with a highly regarded multidisciplinary consultancy that is seeking a Planner or Senior Planner to join their successful and growing Planning team. This is a fantastic opportunity to work on a diverse range of residential-led development and strategic land projects for developers, housebuilders, and institutional landowners.
Based out of their Cambridge Head Office, this hybrid role offers exposure to major residential schemes and exciting developments in sectors such as education and healthcare. You’ll be supporting senior consultants on complex projects while delivering high-quality professional planning advice.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Promoting land through emerging Local Plans for allocation and Green Belt release.
2. Managing planning enquiries, assessing sites, compiling evidence, and preparing high-quality planning submissions and statements.
3. Representing clients’ interests through all stages of the planning process, including appeals and public inquiries.
4. Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, colleagues, and external stakeholders.
5. Collaborating with internal teams across Land, Development, and Consultancy disciplines.
6. Ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget, maintaining strong commercial awareness.
7. Keeping up to date with planning legislation and policy changes to provide accurate, informed advice.
8. Supporting continuous professional development and internal learning opportunities.
About You:
Essential:
9. Previous experience in a town planning role (consultancy or local authority).
10. Excellent report writing and communication skills.
11. Strong IT skills (particularly Microsoft Office).
12. Full UK driving licence.
Desirable:
13. Degree in Town Planning or a related RTPI-accredited qualification.
14. Progressing toward or holding MRTPI status.
15. Strong commercial understanding and ability to manage financial processes (time recording, invoicing, etc.).
