We are looking for experienced and highly capable Mechanical Design Engineers who are passionate about solving challenging problems and delivering innovative solutions that exceed customer expectations.
Our engineers work in integrated product teams and are involved throughout the product development lifecycle - from concept through to final delivery.
In this role, the Mechanical Design Engineer will work closely with fellow Mechanical Engineers and multi-disciplinary teams to develop high-quality mechanical solutions that support our range of defence and maritime products.
Key responsibilities
1. Creating and managing detailed 3D CAD models and associated manufacturing and assembly drawings
2. Leading and supporting mechanical design activities across product development projects
3. Ensuring compliance with performance, reliability, and environmental requirements
4. Supporting design reviews and applying best practice design lifecycle processes
5. Contributing to engineering excellence and continuous improvement across the team
6. Providing technical input to future product developments and business opportunities
Qualifications / Skills required
7. A degree (or higher) in Mechanical Engineering
8. Broad engineering knowledge, with exposure to systems, electrical, electromechanical, or rotating machinery disciplines
9. Strong proficiency in Autodesk Inventor or similar CAD platforms
10. Experience in manufacturing techniques for enclosures, such as metal fabrications, castings, welding, and surface protection
11. A solid understanding of materials and their mechanical properties
12. Experience designing to stringent standards, including for shock, EMC, and thermal conditions
13. Familiarity with structured design processes, including gated phases and formal design reviews
14. Strong communication skills and a collaborative, proactive mindset
Desirable:
15. Experience in the Defence / Aerospace or safety regulated environment would be advantageous
16. Experience in the Naval / Maritime domain would be advantageous.
