Salary: £36,353 per annum pro rata, night shift allowance, 10% bonus potential, 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays and generous pension

This is an exciting time to join Royal Mail as we’re in the process of transforming towards a parcel‑led business. At the heart of this will be our National Distribution operation which moves our parcels across a vast network throughout the UK. As a Transport Office Manager, you’ll facilitate the effective running of our transport office at the Northern Ireland Mail Centre.


What does the role involve?

Reporting to the Distribution Manager, you will lead and inspire a front‑line team of c13 drivers of large goods vehicles (7.5 tn and above). You’ll professionalise distribution, ensuring operational work plans are achieved and that our pipeline optimises the flow of parcels and mail, while maintaining compliance with business policies, national work plan and Standard Operating Procedures.

You will deliver results and a better service to our customers through your team by demonstrating trust in all colleagues. Using your excellent communication, influencing and stakeholder management skills, you’ll build effective relationships with key stakeholders, both internally and externally. You will achieve this working closely alongside our trade union representatives, by working together and delivering a great service every day, we can provide a first‑class customer experience.


What skills and experience are we looking for?

As this is an extremely interesting and varied role, we are looking for candidates who are flexible, can work under pressure and possess excellent leadership and communication skills. As a leader within the business, you must demonstrate evidence on your CV of the following:

Shift patterns

* Sunday 19:00 – 06:30
* Monday 20:30 – 06:30
* Tuesday 22:30 – 06:30
* Wednesday 23:50 – 08:20

Assessment process

If selected, your face‑to‑face assessment is designed to enable you to showcase your suitability for management positions within Royal Mail. You will take part in a capability‑based interview and a short management scenario exercise; more details will be provided on the day.
