We are seeking
a Principal Scientist in Cell and Molecular Oncology as a Deputy Director of Education. The Deputy Director of Education is responsible for leading the development of the Department of Oncology’s suite of postgraduate taught courses and strengthening the existing provision of postgraduate research training through development and implementation of departmental strategy and policy to assure quality across all education related activities and optimise the student experience.As a full member of the University Department of Oncology you will join a lively, intellectually stimulating and multi-disciplinary community which performs to the highest international levels in research and teaching. This role requires someone with significant experience of managing in Higher Education, ideally with experience as both a course or programme leader and an examiner, and an excellent working knowledge of the administrative and quality assurance processes which underpin a successful teaching department. Reporting to the Director of Education, the Principal Scientist/ Deputy Director of Education will line manage the Department of Oncology Teaching Fellows and will be responsible for the operational management of the Education Office. About you You will hold a PhD/Dphil with significant post-qualification research experience. Possess Teaching qualification (e.g. PGCert, FHEA) and hold an established (inter)national reputation and publication record and hold a strong track record of examining or managing examination processes within a Higher Education Institution and have significant experience of student support and welfare within a Higher Education Institution. You will possess significant experience of teaching and course leadership within a Higher Education Institution, preferably at postgraduate level. Ability to communicate effectively with many diverse academic staff to facilitate the delivery of postgraduate teaching, and work independently and collaboratively as part of a multi-disciplinary team, in an academic research environment A higher level qualification or professional standing in Higher Education (e.g. MA, SFHEA, NTF) is desirable, but not essential.
