ROLE SUMMARY:
Severn Trent Green Power is looking to appoint an experienced Senior Management Accountant to join the strong Finance Department on a 6 month contract.
Overview of the Role
Working as part of a Management Accounts team, you will be responsible for producing management accounts for a group of entities of the organisation. You will support the Financial Controller to deliver accurate and timely financials including the group monthly management accounts, budgets, forecasts, and other ad hoc reports.
The role is expected to be an ambassador of the company through championing the Severn Trent Green Power Values and culture.
KEY ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Ownership of entity trial balance, posting adjustments to ensure accuracy
• Creating and posting journals, accounting for accruals and prepayments.
• Processing of intercompany transactions and reconciliations
• Preparation of entity balance sheet reconciliations
• Production of the Income Statement, Balance Sheet, and other supporting schedules as part of the
month end, half year and year end close process.
• Provide commentary and insights into variances to budgets and forecasts
• Assist with the preparation of budgets and forecasts
• Conduct regular meetings with site and regional managers to share financial performance knowledge
with each region
• Maintain fixed asset registers and track capital spend
• Assist with leading the year end audit process
• Cashflow forecast and Intercompany transfers to ensure sufficient funds across the group to meet
supplier payment, loan and interest commitments.
• Identify and drive performance improvement opportunities and provide valuable insightful information
to support decision making.
• Line management of one Management Accountant – reviewing their entities Management accounts,
motivating and supporting their workload and progression.
Preferred experience/qualifications
• Minimum CIMA/ACCA qualified or be able to demonstrate equivalent qualification by experience.
• Proven working experience of management accounting and a solid understanding of basic accounting
and financial principles (minimum 2 year)
• Exposure to budgeting and forecasting, working with Operations Managers
Desirable
• Previous experience of using SAGE 200 Accounts
• Excellent attention to detail and high level of numeracy.
• Ability to effectively interpret, analyse and evaluate management information.
• Good interpersonal and communication skills, communicating at all levels.
• Possess good stakeholder management skills.
• Confident with IT systems, good Excel skills required.
