Company Accountant (12 Month Fixed Term Contract)

12‑month fixed‑term contract in Newcastle (Quorum Business Park).

You will be responsible for delivering the full accounting function across concession companies, ensuring all financial reporting complies with statutory requirements, lender obligations, and internal standards. This role involves exposure to financial reporting, cash management, and stakeholder engagement.


What You'll Be Doing

* Preparing monthly management accounts, including variance analysis and commentary.
* Producing statutory accounts and acting as a key contact for auditors.
* Supporting annual budgets and financial updates for lenders.
* Managing payments to subcontractors and lenders in line with contractual requirements.
* Preparing VAT and CIS returns and supporting tax compliance.
* Producing cash‑flow forecasts and managing treasury and bank balances.
* Maintaining the general ledger, ensuring accurate processing of financial transactions.
* Completing balance‑sheet reconciliations and supporting audit processes.
* Supporting finance policy and procedure maintenance alongside the Finance Manager.


Who We're Looking For

* Degree‑qualified or equivalent, with a professional accounting qualification (or working towards one).
* Strong experience in financial reporting and general accounting practices.
* Ability to work with technical accounting concepts (PFI experience desirable but not essential).
* Strong IT skills, particularly Excel and financial systems.
* Highly organised, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
* Strong communication skills and ability to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
