A fabulous opportunity has arisen within our award winning team. The North Children's Speech & language therapy service is part of MPFT and provides a service to North Staffordshire, Stoke on Trent, Stafford and surrounding areas.

We have an opportunity to recruit to a part time permanent Band 4 position.The service is needs lead and is able to offer you:

Main duties of the job
* Be competent as appropriate to the requirements of the role.
* Demonstrate at all times the Partnership Trust Values.
* Be a Speech and Language Therapy Assistant Practitioner (AP) and have an understanding of the knowledge and skills required for the role.
* They will have a focus on children with speech, language and communication delay and disorder.
* Be responsible, under the guidance of a registered practitioner, for a defined population of service users in a variety of settings across the Partnership Trust including homes, schools and clinics.
* Be skilled in supporting the development, implementation and evaluation of care/support packages under the direction of a registered practitioner.
* Have supervisory responsibilities as required (e.g. work allocation) and contribute to service.
* Higher apprenticeship level 5 /Foundation Degree in related subject/ assistant practitioner qualification or equivalent.
* Evidence of/willing to undertake training relevant to the post.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* oNVQ Level 3 or equivalent in relevant area
* oQualification relevant to speech and language development. Signing e.g Makaton/BSL
Experience
* Previous work with pre-school and school age children with complex needs.
* Previous work with families.
* Previous work in educational settings.
* Previous experience of working with a multi-disciplinary team.
Skills
* Ability to work effectively in a team setting.
* Good written and verbal communication skills.
* Ability to work independently and organise time effectively
* Ability to travel to meet the needs of the service
* UK based experience in eg nhs/education
Knowledge
* Basic understanding of current educational practice in relation to Code of Practice, Statutory Assessment and Inclusion.
