Marine Manager Greenock Great Harbour and HMNB Clyde, Faslane Competitive Salary benefits Permanent- Full time Serco have an exciting opportunity for a Marine Manager to join our team based at HMNB Clyde. As a Marine Manager in our Defence – Maritime Services team, you’ll lead and support our in-port marine operations at Clyde. You’ll ensure our fleet meets the highest standards of safety, professionalism, and compliance – playing a key part in delivering for our customer. Key responsibilities are: Provide leadership and professional oversight of afloat personnel to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant operations Develop and maintain operational standards through audits, inspections, and continuous professional development Act as the lead for marine safety, regulations, and compliance – both internally and with external stakeholders Plan and deliver training and development to ensure a pipeline of Suitably Qualified and Experienced Personnel (SQEP) Manage marine safety investigations, audits, and contribute to the continuous improvement of our Safety Management System (SMS) Oversee the Clyde Vessel Operating Procedures (VOP) register and drive safety case development for new vessels and procedures What you’ll need to do the role: A Master (Unlimited) Certificate of Competency Proven sea-going experience as a qualified deck officer, including experience as a Master Up-to-date knowledge of UK statutory and classification regulations, and the International Safety Management (ISM) Code Experience of coaching and developing others, with strong people leadership skills Confidence managing relationships with regulators, harbour authorities, and key stakeholders IT literacy and the ability to analyse and act on marine safety data Able to achieve SC clearance Desirable People management in a unionised environment Operational experience of both MoD and commercial environments Vessel chartering – legal requirements Incident investigation What we offer: Company car Company bonus Private medical cover Pension: Up to 6% contributory pension scheme Holidays: 25 days' annual leave plus bank holidays Training and development: We offer a wide range of learning opportunities with over 1,100 internal courses available, funding for qualifications and apprenticeships, mentoring opportunities, and a focus on internal progression.
