Job Title: Independent Living Scheme Officer (Part-Time)
Location: West Midlands (Site-Based) | Contract: Initial 6-Month Contract | Hours: 20-25 hours per week | Start Date: ASAP
A Local Authority in the West Midlands is seeking a Part-Time Independent Living Scheme Officer to support the day-to-day management of a small independent living housing scheme for residents aged 55 and over. This is an initial 6-month contract, offering an opportunity for someone with experience in housing support, sheltered housing, or housing officer roles.
About the Role
You will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of a welcoming and safe independent living scheme consisting of approximately 20 flats. Acting as the main point of contact for residents, you will support their wellbeing, manage day-to-day issues within the scheme, and liaise with relevant housing and support services.
Key Responsibilities
* Overseeing the day-to-day management of an over-55s independent living housing scheme
* Acting as the primary point of contact for residents
* Conducting regular welfare checks and engaging with residents
* Liaising with housing teams, repairs services, and support providers
* Reporting maintenance issues and ensuring communal areas are well maintained
* Promoting a safe, supportive, and positive living environment for residents
About You
The council is looking to hear from candidates who have:
* Experience working in sheltered housing, independent living schemes, housing support, or housing officer roles
* Strong communication and relationship-building skills
* A resident-focused approach and the ability to support vulnerable or older residents
* Experience liaising with repairs, housing services, and support teams
