Teaching Assistant – Saxon Hill Academy
We are seeking to appoint a Teaching Assistant to support a wide range of educational and personal care needs of pupils at Saxon Hill Academy. The successful candidate will have a positive attitude and initiative, and experience with children who have special needs, including physical disability, sensory, complex medical and communication difficulties.
You will be able to work with energy and enthusiasm, be keen to learn and develop new skills, and be flexible to support students aged 2–19 across school departments with complex learning and care needs. You will be pupil-focused and support all students with care and mutual respect.
Desirable experience includes supporting pupils with complex communication needs and/or positive behaviour interventions. A proven track record of working with vulnerable children and/or adults in education, health or care contexts, and excellent communication skills are essential. Experience with Autism and Makaton or BSL would be an advantage.

Responsibilities
* Provide support to pupils with a range of educational and personal care needs in accordance with individual education plans.
* Assist pupils across departments and age ranges (2–19) in classrooms and small groups.
* Promote pupil welfare, safety and well-being; support positive behaviour strategies as required.
* Collaborate with teaching staff to monitor progress and report concerns.
Requirements
* Experience working with children who have special educational needs, especially in physical disability, sensory, complex medical and communication difficulties.
* Proven track record of supporting vulnerable learners in education, health or care contexts.
* Excellent communication skills; experience with Autism and Makaton or BSL would be advantageous.
* A willingness to learn and adapt in a dynamic school environment.
Salary and Hours
Actual Salary: £18,315 – £18,602 (Pay Award Pending). Hours: 32.5 hours per week, term time only plus 1 inset week, 39 weeks; Mon–Fri 8:45am–3:45pm.
