The main purpose of the Deputy Manager is to lead the development, implementation and maintenance of the Active Care Group approach to care and support within Rowland House, Thames Ditton. To provide the Registered Manager with effective support to ensure the smooth and efficient running of the Service, with regard to care and support of Service Users; budgetary management (income and expenditure); the day-to-day housekeeping of the property and the services and facilities; day to day management and development of staff.
What you'll be working: Full-Time hours
42 hours per week
Annual salary £35,000
What you'll be doing: Ensuring the service has the required level of resources to support the service users. Including ensuring that the service is fully staffed according to agreed levels.
Responsibilities
Taking all three aspects into account the range of responsibilities for this role are likely to include:
Leadership and People Management:
To lead by example, and develop effective teams within the Service(s).
Develop a positive working environment which nurtures and rewards good practice through a programme of training and development.
Provide monthly supervision and annual appraisal to Senior Support Staff and support staff in line with Company procedures and standards.
Staff Management:
Ensure information is collated and recorded in line with the My Life Approach to care and support, Quality Assessment Systems and CQC requirements.
Manage the appropriate maintenance of records and personal information in line with the Data Protection Act and to the standards required by Information Governance.
To attend reviews as appropriate.
Ensure that all policies and procedures related to the running of the service are adhered to.
To provide appropriate leadership and development to all relative staff to ensure an effective, well trained and motivated team of staff.
To ensure that prescribed staffing levels are provided to meet registration requirements and personal care and support plans.
To support in the delivery of a comprehensive and well-structured induction programme for new staff members.
To ensure that all staff are aware of their responsibilities about: - Health and Safety at Work (including risk assessment)
Control of substances Hazardous to Health
Reporting of accidents and incidents
Fire precautions and evacuation procedures
Agreed safe working practices
To help ensure that each service provides an environment conducive to the delivery of appropriate and high quality care for each individual.
To ensure that correct assessment procedures are carried out and documented and that all agreed processes are undertaken with referring authorities.
To monitor on a regular basis that all individuals within our care have a comprehensive, detailed care and support plan which is reviewed on a regular basis.
Via the key worker system, to ensure that all individuals are encouraged and allowed to participate at the highest level in all aspects of their lives.
To communicate and work closely with relatives and stakeholders.
Ensure a range of meetings take place, and are documented, with both staff and service users to achieve effective the implementation of the Active Care Group approach to care & support.
Work with the Recruitment and Training departments to ensure the recruitment and retention of staff with a positive value base and person centered approach.
Provide support and guidance to the staff team.
Where necessary ensure that all disciplinary and grievance procedures are carried out in line with Company policy and statutory requirements.
To manage change effectively.
Rota Management.
Provide regular on call cover.
Ensure staff adhere to all Care Sector Codes of Practice and the Employee Handbook.
Partnership Working:
Maintain effective links with the Head office, Company Admin, HR, and Health and Safety agencies. Maximise effective partnerships with mainstream and specialist services e.g. Social Care representatives, NHS representatives, and others. Maintaining close contact with families as appropriate, with consent of service users.
Equality and Diversity: Assist in ensuring equality in the workplace regardless of race, age, disability, gender, sexual orientation or religious belief or any other protected characteristic and work in accordance with the Equality Act 2010.
Utilising support services as required, such as Advocacy.
Implementing/monitoring and contributing to joint initiatives as required e.g. Positive Behaviour Support Plans, Person Centred Plans, Health Action Plans.
Celebrate and share success with service users, colleagues and partners.
What you'll have: Excellent time keeping and organisational skills
Previous Microsoft Office experience particularly Excel
Previous experience in the healthcare sector would be an advantage, but is not essential
Ability to take direction and work alone and part of a small team
Successful candidates will be required to undergo an Enhanced DBS
Desirable Interest in ABI and neurological
LEVEL 3 (senior/supervisor NVQ or equivalent)
Flexible in hours to adjust to service needs
Required to work some weekends
(18 hours supernumerary)
Required to have relevant experience in working with IT
Required to stand in for manager in absence.
