The Role & Key Responsibilities

From your first day with us you will be part of a policing family making a real difference.

It is our mission to identify and protect vulnerable people, prevent and respond to harm and keep people safe.

A vacancy has arisen for a full-time HOLMES Indexing Team Leader (ITL) working within the Surrey and Sussex Major Crime Team (MCT) at Woking police station.

You must already have your HOLMES 2 Indexing qualification.

With your specialist indexing knowledge you will be expected to support and advise the Senior Investigating Officer on the HOLMES indexing policy/staffing and maintain accountability for this function.

You will have responsibility for the management of HOLMES incident databases in accordance with policies and procedures.

The position requires you to provide 1st line supervision for Indexers and Typists including performance management and welfare. You will be required to prioritise and allocate workloads to support case deadlines, including the provision of support to other areas of Specialist Crime when required (Serious & Organised Crime and Economic Crime).

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is keen to manage staff and workloads within a busy and demanding environment. There may be a requirement to work from other Major Incident Suites within Surrey & Sussex at times of demand. You will be also required to assist the HOLMES Manager with technical upgrades and the delivery of HOLMES training.

Skills & Experience

The successful candidate must already have their HOLMES Indexing qualification and be able to demonstrate:

1. Well evidenced experience of the HOLMES Indexer role
2. An ability to motivate, develop and lead a team
3. Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
4. Evidence of working to deadlines with the minimum of supervision

Given the close proximity and high level of access to sensitive information, the post-holder must possess the highest professional and ethical standards.
