We operate on an office-based contract model, but support hybrid working where possible. This means you’ll need to be based within reasonable travel distance of the office and able to attend in person when business needs require—typically 2–3 days per week, though this may vary by team or project. Flexibility to be on site when needed is essential.

As a Senior Commercial Manager, you’ll: play a pivotal role in one of the UK’s most ambitious infrastructure projects—helping Britain reach Net Zero.
The Role
You’ll lead commercial strategy and supplier relationships for major contracts—ensuring cost, quality, and delivery targets are met. You’ll work across Civils, Equipment, Engineering, and Client-Insight teams, managing contracts through procurement, execution, and closeout. You’ll work closely and proactively with internal and external stakeholders at all levels, promoting the SZC Project, its values, and behaviors, ensuring project requirements are met and successfully delivered.
Responsibilities include:
1. The day-to-day management of Commercial/Supply Chain Managers and/or Assistants.
2. Manage the relationship with the supplier daily.
3. Ensure all Principal Accountabilities for the contract commercial team are implemented in accordance with procedures.
4. Oversee the development and delivery of a Commercial/Contract Strategy.
5. Manage stakeholder engagement.
6. Identify, define, and manage risks related to Contract Delivery or the Supply Chain.
7. Support procurement processes and review procurement strategies.
8. Lead and manage the execution phase of contracts, ensuring alignment with project objectives.
9. Manage the closeout phase of contracts.
What you’ll bring:
* Proven experience in major projects and NEC3/4 or FIDIC contracts.
* Strong commercial, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
* Knowledge of UK contract law and procurement best practices.
* Degree or equivalent experience.
* Professional membership (RICS, CICES, IOB, CIPS) desirable.
