We are currently recruiting for a full time Dietetic Assistant (37.5 hours / week), to work with us in an adult specialist eating disorder unit, on a permanent contract. This is a role within Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust, offering a wealth of clinical experience and development opportunities.
We are a friendly, energetic and dynamic team who are proactive and visionary, focusing on excellent patient centred care. You will be based within the multidisciplinary team which includes Dietetics, Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Medics, Nursing and Psychology.
You will also be part of the wider growing and dynamic mental health dietetic team across Oxford Health. This includes Dietitians, Dietetic Assistants and Dietetic Apprentices specialising in mental health, based across Oxfordshire, Buckinghamshire and BSW (Bath & NE Somerset, Swindon and Wiltshire). The dietetic team covers a wide range of clinical specialities including adult eating disorders, adult mental health, children and young people, secure in-patient services, and mental health services for older people.
Main duties of the job
This post will allow you the opportunity to develop your skills working with adults with an eating disorder and you will be involved in individual work, groupwork, quality improvement projects, catering as well as participating in eating with the patients.
The responsibilities of the role include, but are not limited to:
* Gathering relevant clinical information from medical and nursing notes, care plans, drug charts, patients and carers
* Liaise with nursing staff and other members of the multidisciplinary team, for example, Occupational Therapists about the patient's nutritional plan
* Negotiate dietetic interventions in specified situations as per established protocols
* Assess meal plan compliance
* Regularly liaise with the supervising dietitian about all aspects of patients' nutritional care
There is a commitment to personal development and CPD and an expectation that all staff are involved in corporate departmental project work, audit/research and teaching of other healthcare professionals. All staff are actively involved in student training and we offering dietetic apprenticeships which all staff will also be involved in supporting. There is a strong AHP community within the Trust with significant opportunities to support integrated working and showcasing the achievements of AHPs within the Trust.
