Job overview It's a great time to be a part of the Community Mental Health Team and we are developing the Clinical Care Pathways leading to an improved and innovative service for our Service Users, Carers and Staff. If you are interested in becoming a lead health care professional and you are focused on promoting recovery for those people diagnosed with severe and enduring mental ill health. We provide comprehensive multi-disciplinary services and work closely with local specialist mental health teams, tertiary service providers, primary care, local statutory and non-statutory agencies, service users and carers. We are looking for motivated and enthusiastic mental health nurse and who has a strong sense of initiative and an excellent team working ability. You will be based at Canterbury CMHT but may be expected to travel to our other site at Ashford CMHT. The post holder must hold a full, valid, UK driving licence and have access to a car/vehicle to use for business purposes (unless you have a disability as defined by the Equality Act 2010). Main duties of the job A Community Mental Health Nurse is a key staff member within the multidisciplinary care team and will have continuing responsibility to assess, plan, coordinate, deliver and evaluate care, communicate findings, influence and drive change and promote health and best practice, patient safety and experience. The Mental Health Nurse will be professionally accountable to the Executive Director of Nursing, and operationally accountable to the Matron / Clinical Service Manager. You will be able to demonstrate knowledge of high level interventions & community assessment skills. Existing qualifications or a willingness to undertake training relevant to the post is expected. Person specification Experience Essential criteria Registered on NMC One year at Band 5 or above in hospital or community health care Evidence of continued professional development, appropriate to role Clear understanding of CPA and care coordination role Desirable criteria Post-registration certificate ENB 998. Possession of specialist nursing or other relevant higher academic or skills focussed awards. Induction KMPT is committed to supporting all new staff and this includes a comprehensive Induction programme. The programme's duration depends on role and can be from 2 days to 4 weeks (not always consecutive days). The Induction programme will provide an excellent opportunity for new staff to meet and engage with KMPT's subject specialists and include the required training. The programme may involve some travel to the various training venues across Kent and Medway, the main ones being Canterbury, Maidstone and Dartford.
